Hello! My first real post is here and I have brought some behind the scenes exclusives!
This is one of the first sculptures i've done outside of school and I learned a lot while doing it. I wanted to make a ceramic sculpture, but since I no longer have free access to a kiln I had to get creative. I used air dry clay, but quickly learned the one I picked is not firm and could not hold itself up, i'm not sure if others can, i'll have to do more research. Anyway, this was frustrating but then I had the idea to build a sort of armature out of cardboard and attach the clay to that. I read up on this and learned that air dry clay does not attach well to cardboard, so I paper maché'd it and then put the clay on top! This worked well and then from there I colored it with dry pastels to give it a "colored in" look. I wanted it to look like a child's drawing come to 3d, and i think I accomplished that!
I have included more angles of the sculpture, as I only have one on the portfolio.
